Hello from another part of UK
« am: 01. September 2010, 08:07 »
Hello, like other uk poster mine will be in english. My German being only of the school boy type and so not very good.
I have one of the ex-Castle Martin Iltis. It was used by a surfer, who painted it bright yellow! He also let too much salt water get to it, and I now need to do a lot of work with the welder!
There was not drive to the rear when I got it, and have sorted that problem.

I'm glad I bought a basket case, learnt so much this last week!
Rebuilding starts now for me, Chassis got painted underneath yesterday, Fuel tank is outside being cleaned and the refit starts!
Still looking for a couple of bits for the engine conversion, alternator bracketry etc but I want it on the road soon.
Got any piccies Andrew?

Thanks for the confirmation. I did a bit of digging when I got my Iltis, the y number was on a card in the back of the battery box.
I was able to remove the paint to find the unit markings, so had a good idea it was correct.
Just need to find the time now to get the welding done on the body!
Castlemartin :)

Back from my holidays thank you - Now I understand ("You know my methods, Watson.") ->
Officially it's called "Castle Martin". But usually - f.e. after three pints of guiness in the pub - it's called "Kaazlmaadihn" ;):D.
