Drive shaft bolts
« am: 14. Februar 2011, 22:31 »
I have searched, honest!
I have seen somewhere on here some E-torx bolts for the driveshaft, like the GM/Vauxhall/Opel style bolts. I know they are M8x50 ( I think!)
Can anyone tell me the part number, I really dislike the cap head bolts, the reverse torx/Etorxs bolts seem like the best idea.
I did look in the WiKi but I couldn't find it there either.
Sorry.
:)

What are "cap-head-bolts"???

The 4 driveshafts have allen-key-hexagon bolts M8 x 45 with min. 10.9 strength.
torque = 45Nm
The bolts for the cardan shaft have a 50mm length.

Some people prefer torx. I think you can get 'em at a "well-equiped" screw trader.

Cap heads are allen style bolts, they have a recessed hexagon, like the drive shaft and cardan shaft.
Most people call them allen bolts in the UK, though nut and bolt places call them cap heads.
Nut and bolt suppliers in the UK don't stock the torx style, it's not normal for them!
I have to put up with PoziDrive screws! although i recently got some nice philips heads from Wuerth recently which I'm much happier with!

Any ideas on what vehicle to take these from?
