Titel: Alternative ignition.

Hi.
It's been a little while since I've been here!
I had some problems with my 24v military ignition system so I have removed it.
I am now using a 12v civilian distributor.
I have lots of T3 bulli parts so I have used the ignition amplifier, the ignition coil from a T3 and I made my own HT leads from components I had in stock.
I measured the current draw of the ignition system at 4a so I use a 10a 24v to 12v converter.
The wiring loom [kabelbaum?] was modified from a VW T3 1.9l "DG" without DIS, it is almost perfect.
I didn't post anything earlier as I was unsure if it would work, well, it does, it works very well and now I have the luxury of off the shelf parts.
I have used this for a few months almost every day.
I also added a MKI Golf GTI camshaft which lets the engine rev a little higher and I've also increased the carburettor [vergasser] jet sizes.
My Iltis now sings!
:)
It has made the Iltis much easier to drive and much better for modern traffic.

Thanks.
:)
No problem.
I've had great help here so it's nice to give something back, I just hope it's helpful to someone.

The Zuendung/nockenwelle/Vergasser did not affect the emmisions.

Lovely (http://www.iltis.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2014/02/wpid-DSC_0228.jpg)

Everything set up nicely at idle, sadly I do not have a rolling road but bringing the car away from idle I had similar figures.

:)
