It took a little work but I managed to post eventually.
Before I jump in and start asking questions I thought it only polite to introduce myself.
My name is Simon Baxter, I live in the UK (and only speak English, sorry!)
I run a small workshop specialising in VW T3 and T4 models, we also sell some spares on the internet -
www.brickwerks.co.ukI also run a web forum for VW commercials (Nutzfarzeug?)
www.brick-yard.co.ukWhy am I here? I wanted a toy, a new project, something to look interesting in my workshop, after looking for a T3 syncro and not being able to afford one (they are getting really expensive and most of the UK ones are trashed) I broadened my search.
There were a couple of Iltis on UK e-bay but they were either too far away or expensive, I chanced upon one that was on e-bay as an unfinished project.
I bought it.
You can see the progress here -
www.iltis.co.ukAs we didn't get the Iltis in the UK there is no technical data available, so I'm trawling though German amnuals trying to pick info from it but I have very helpfully been sent a English manual, thanks for that!
It's silly things, fuses, tyre pressure, etc that I need.
As for my Iltis, it has been stored since a German military base in the UK closed down in 1996 (Castle Martin)
It has never been registered in the UK so I am awaiting my "Urkunde" from the Automuseum in Wolfsburg so I can set wheels in motion.
Anyway....

Simon.
