Wiper motor blows fuse
« am: 29. April 2024, 04:53 »
Hello!
Maybe someone has ran into the same problem i am having.
I took apart and cleaned the wiper motor of my VW 1.7 because it had the no stop problem. Cleaned the small pin and now it works BUT... it only works on the first speed and as soon as i put the second in it blows the fuse. Before, the second speed worked. What might cause this problem?

Hard to tell over the computer screen.
If you still cannot find the solution, we can always professionally overhaul this wiper motor for you.

Speeds in a DC motor are generated by changing voltage. That means, with 2 speed levels you have 2 circuits.
The DC motor has two windings. In your case the first level is ok, that means, if the fuse blow immediately in the second stage, that there is a short circuit to ground!

You can measure this with a multimeter, but important, you have to measure including the switch. Maybe you have the short circuit in the switch level two.
