Hi.
While using my parts search software, I looked up the Lemforder part for the left hand front track rod end.

VW - 183 419 811
Lemforder - 16631 01

The specification is as follows.
Fitting Position Front Axle, Fitting Position Left, Fitting Position Outer, Length 74 mm, Cone Size 14 mm, Inner Thread M14x1,5 mm, with right-hand thread, Weight [g] 0,310 kg, Thread Size M14x1,5

Now, compare that to a MKI Golf item

VW - 171 419 811
Lemforder - 10251 02

The specification is as follows.

Fitting Position Front Axle, Fitting Position Left and right, Fitting Position Outer, Length 74 mm, Cone Size 14 mm, Inner Thread M14x1,5 mm, with right-hand thread, Weight [g] 0,320 kg, With accessories, Thread Size M14x1,5

Now, is it me or is that exactly the same part?
Am I missing something?
I only looked because the MKI Golf item also fits the T3, and doing what I do have have a pile of T3 parts on the shelf!

This is currently discussed in the IltisWiki-Autorenforum:

It is NOT the same part but it seems to fit. The main difference is the thread on the cone. (M12.x1.5)

No, but you are right: Obsessed is what we all are...I ment your research.

Did the Iltis have M10x1?
If so i took one of those off a syncro the other day, those really are terrible threads, not strong enough.
I prefer the idea of M12!
